Farmers chosen to participate will record themselves over the course of several months and have check-in calls with Leanna, the producer. Depending on your personal story we will work with you to record different parts of your world.
Then the raw tape will be edited down to a 15-30 minute audio story that will be part of the Farmers On Tape Podcast.
Things we might ask you to record
Your chores (feeding animals, watering in greenhouses, servicing equipment, we want it all)
Conversations with people you are close to (parents, siblings, partners, spouses, best friends, mentors)
Your reactions (did something big just happen? Whip out your phone and tell us how you feel)
Teach us how to do something – as if we came to your farm and had to help you with a specific task – better yet record yourself teaching a real person how to do something!
Take us to different places – think feed stores, butchers, farmers markets, food pantries, community picnics
Visit the same enterprise at different times throughout the season – for example seeding tomatoes, planting tomatoes outside, harvesting tomatoes, eating tomatoes, tearing the tomato plants out of the ground.
Show us your favorite farm meal/food. This can be preparing a sit-down dinner or eating watermelon in the field and spitting the seeds out at each other.
Record the music in your world.
Are there any sounds that define your location?
Describe the view.
Give the microphone to other people in your world. Do they have questions for you?
